THE
FOUNDERS
Drs.
Steven and Christine Robinson founded ILDI in 2004 after realizing
that local organizations needed empowerment and capacity development.
Instead of dictating program specifics or structure, they formed
ILDI to be able to partner for development with local nonprofits.
Both
trained as physicians, their approach to the community issues
they encountered was like that of a clinician’s approach
to a patient with several diseases needing treatment –
a holistic, integrated approach. The approach is reflected throughout
ILDI’s vision, values and most importantly, program design.

Dr.
Steven Robinson received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine in Nashville, TN and currently is a hospital-based
physician at a large referral hospital in the area. He serves
as ILDI’s Board Chairman. Dr. Christine Robinson worked
as a commercial banker in a mid-sized bank after graduating
from Indiana
University
in Bloomington, IN with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
She then matriculated at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
for her MD-Masters in Public Health degrees. She now heads ILDI
as President.
