Relief Efforts in Haiti

Less than two months after the devastating earthquake in southern Haiti leaving an estimated 1.3 million homeless and without food, water, or shelter, ILDI is exploring unique and beneficial ways to provide aid to the region. Through ILDI’s current network of locally-owned and operated national and international partner organizations, we have amassed efforts to provide additional financial relief as well as innovative and technically advanced products and services to meet the emergent needs of the people of Haiti and the growing number of volunteers dedicated to Haiti’s recovery. As part of these efforts, ILDI is currently focusing short term efforts in two strategic areas of relief: 1) additional financial / volunteer support of locally-operated medical programs, personnel and facilities, and 2) the introduction of innovative and technically advanced mobile water filtration technology capable of converting contaminated water to clean, usable water for a wide variety of uses ranging from everyday hygiene and cooking to medical procedures and sanitation. In addition to the immediate disaster recovery and humanitarian needs in Haiti, ILDI also remains fully committed to assisting Haiti in its longer term and ongoing post-disaster recovery as well via the numerous and proven ILDI leadership and economic development programs and community development projects in business, medicine, and education.
