Partnership

ILDI partners with nonprofit organizations engaged in community development.  Our partnerships are grown out of mutual respect and admiration.  We partner with local nonprofits with solid local reputations who have successfully served their communities, but who desire to increase their impact.  ILDI provides funding, networking opportunities, access to international best practice standards and technological consulting, in addition to our in-house leadership training seminars.  All program ideas are developed in concert and often at the request of our local partner organizations.  This ensures cultural appropriateness and local ownership.  ILDI's role is that of a servant-leader, helping to elevate those with whom we work.

Integrity

ILDI adheres to industry-accepted standards of excellence.  ILDI Board of Directors reviews ILDI's compliance with these standards on an annual basis at its first yearly meeting.  ILDI is committed to the highest level of integrity, not only in financial matters, but in our relationships with our partners, our staff, our volunteers and our donors.  We encourage transparency in our partnerships through mutual accountability and project evaluation.  ILDI is proud that the Director of our Sierra Leonean nonprofit partner is a member of our Board of Directors.  We strive for mutual benefit and for empowering our developing world partners.

Communication

Relationships often starve for lack of communication. In our busy world, it is so easy to get caught up in the "doing" and forget about the "relating." Since relationships are a vital key to ILDI's work, we strive to exhibit a proactive, positive communications strategy. By dialoging with our developing world partners at every phase of project planning, funding, implementation, evaluation and expansion, we are better prepared for challenges ahead. Together, we can make an impact.
