Vision
& Values |
 |
| |
| |
ILDI
seeks to train leaders in developing nations of the world in
the areas of business, medicine and education. |
|
| |
In
addition to the vision statement, the following core values
are defining features of ILDI and its purpose. All programs
are committed to upholding and promoting these essential values.
• PARTNERSHIP
• INTEGRITY
• COMMUNICATION |
|
|
| |
| |
ILDI
is a US-based nonprofit currently working in two developing
nations to train leaders capable of addressing their communities'
most-pressing issues. ILDI partners with local nonprofits engaged
directly in development work and helps these organizations serve
their communities more effectively, with greater impact or geographical
outreach or with integrated programs – providing a hand-up,
not a hand-out. By helping to cultivate the nations’ leaders,
ILDI hope to multiply our impact in developing nations of the
world. |
|
| |
| ILDI
is currently engaged in projects in two African nations, with
plans to expand throughout the developing world. |
| |
| PARTNERSHIP |
| ILDI
partners with nonprofit organizations engaged in community development.
Our partnerships are grown out of mutual respect and admiration
and come about as a result of complementary goals and vision;
namely to grow leaders and serve communities. We seek to partner
with local nonprofits who have successfully served their communities,
but who desire to increase their impact. ILDI partners with
organizations of high repute and integrity, putting into place
mechanisms for mutual accountability and project evaluation.
ILDI is able to provide funding, networking opportunities, access
to international best practice standards and technological consulting,
in addition to our in-house leadership development and training
seminars. As a first priority, ILDI is driven by the felt-needs
of our partners and their communities – our program ideas
are developed in concert, often at the behest of our partner
organizations, thus ensuring cultural appropriateness and local
ownership. ILDI’s role is that of a servant-leader, helping
to elevate those with whom we work. |
| |
| INTEGRITY |
| As
part of our internal management and self-regulation, ILDI adheres
to the Standards for Excellence drafted by the Maryland Association
for Nonprofits. The ILDI Board of Directors reviews ILDI’c
compliance with these standards on an annual basis at its first
meeting. ILDI is committed to the highest level of integrity,
not only in financial matters, but also in our relationships
with our partners, staff, volunteers and donors. We encourage
transparency in our partnerships through mutual accountability
and project evaluation. ILDI is proud that the Director of New
Harvest Development Office, our nonprofit partner in Sierra
Leone, serves on the ILDI Board of Directors. We strive for
mutual benefit and for empowering our developing world partners. |

| COMMUNICATION |
| Relationships
often starve for lack of communication. In our busy world, it
is easy to get so caught up in “doing” that we forget
about relating. Since relationships are a vital key to ILDI’s
work, we strive to exhibit proactive, positive communications
strategies. By dialoging with our various communities - developing
world partners, donors, and volunteers – we expand our
effectiveness. Frequent communication with our partners in the
developing world at every phase of project planning, implementation,
evaluation and expansion, we realize greater program effectiveness
and an overall improved ability to prepare for challenges ahead.
Communicating effectively with donors is also a priority and
is accomplished by periodic newsletters and events. Being in-touch
with the needs of the communities we serve is not enough –
we also must communicate effectively with those who partner
with us to accomplish our programs. Together we can make an
impact! |
